Botox comes through. Poor Gea served for the match and got tight in the 4th. After that he tried to keep it close, but goes down 6-4 in the decider

How does some of these no name players ger these draws ... Darderi.. I doubt anyone have EVER heard of him but his own parents.. I think the bottom half of the draw was way too overloaded .. Sascha has a tough road but the easiest draw since RG...

I contacted Mrs Darderi for comment after the Sascha match and she had never heard of her son either.

It was inevitable I suppose but with Tsitsipas loss it officially comes to an end; the streak of 150 consecutive years of at least 1 player with a 1H Backhand reaching a men’s Grand Slam SF in a calender year.

Lighting a candle & hoping Musetti comes back strong next year.

Fonseca keeps getting passed by other young guys.

It makes me wonder if the ATP knew something about Fonseca ahead of time when he wasn't awarded the Newcomer of the Year award last year. I was shocked when Vacherot got the award, and thought the ATP made a mistake. (I could have at least understood if it went to Mensik.) However, it appeared (at least to me) that Fonseca was the most consistent young player last year. I never thought he would regress this badly. I can understand Mensik being ranked ahead, but even Vacherot is ranked well ahead of Fonseca.

At least there won't be any debate on the Newcomer of the Year award for this year. (That one is going to Jodar.)

I must say I'm impressed with Tiafoe and Shelton in this tournament. Great to see! Now the real business begins.

As much as I've poo pooed Shelton's slam getting chances, I think he does have a chance against Carlito. If only because Carlos could easily have a completely off day, that type of thing often happens when you don't have match reps.

Funnily enough I also think Tiafoe's next match against Michelsen could be really really tough. Kid hasn't lost a set!

Tiafoe's getting worked by Michelson! Took the 1st 2 sets in about an hour & a 1/2! Big Foe should've change out of that ugly outfit when given a chance! Alex got an early break in the 3rd set! He's going after his shots & they're falling just inside the line! Francis is toast as far as I'm concerned!

Tiafoe loses his mojo when he is not playing on Armstrong. Big Foe can't put a 1st serve in play and is paying for it. Even when he makes a 1st, it's not near as deadly as Michelsen's serve.

poor Michelsen had an epic choke trying to serve out the match in straights. Gets broken and basically fed every ball right back to Foe until he missed the SP against. Poor kid. Hopefully he can rebound in the 4th and close it out.
