The message that I fail to get across every time is that a stadium full of boo boo isn't 'bad' but anything Novak does is? He has said numerous times the only people rooting for him was his family. That's literally the hell they give him on centre courts. Compared to that, Novak has been more than graceful in his speeches or on court behavior. Shame.
That really only happened when he was playing against Roger or Rafa, or Andy at Wimbledon. But part of the issue is that Novak is a complicated beast. He's a good sport, but perhaps lacks the charisma of the other two. In addition, it's always been so obvious that he wants the love. He was a bit needy about it sometimes. Now it's different, he does get the love. It's part of his story. Quite frankly it bolsters his legend so I'm not really disposed to feel that sorry for him about it. He managed. And he had a pretty big fan base as well, let's not forget. He just happened to play alongside two stars who transcended the sport

well it happened in his matches against a lot of players Ruud, Sinner, Alcaraz, Roger, Rafa, any tom dick or harry who didn't belong to the Soviet. Any top 100 EU player gets cheered on against him. Wth? Needy or whatever, I used to think of the EU crowd as the pettiest crowd anywhere. It's like the moment he crossed Roger or Rafa he started being a villain. That's why I am sometimes glad he has all the records.

As for Needy, imagine having a grand slam in Moscow. Roger or Rafa would feel the same way there, "needy".
no I really don't think they would :D Part of what made them so charismatic was that people generally liked their style, and they weren't hungry for love. Those lucky bastards just got the love anyway

Lets put things in Proper Context for starters
Lets talk about the present this year
Novak got a Walk Over in the QFs and Musetti was beating him when he had to retire at the AO this year I was there Live by the way
Granted Sinner didnt play his best in their SF squandering 2/18 BPs he could not convert
Alcaraz found as usual another gear after the 1st set in the final which he lost 62, Novak tried though he could not keep up

At RG this year he was beaten by my fav youngster in Fonesca who played the Big Points Better than Novak

At Wimbledon this year Sinner gave Novak a Tennis Lesson, Novak had 1 BP all match and was snuffed out by Sinner by a Ace, even Novak said after the match he was given a lesson and could not keep up, anyone watching the match, Novak looked old btw
Same think happened in the final Zed had 1 BP and Sinner snuffed that out as well

Novak wont be winning another GS title regardless of his favored draws, other Top seeds will have to fall by the wayside and then he has to face either Alcaraz or Sinner?

Lets be real okay:)

good points MM.. I guess even a "dead clock tells the correct time twice a day".. Just kidding Seriously.. You have to give Novak credit.. he found a way to break down Sinner at AO regardless if he had his usual cupcake draw.. Jannik was a lot smarter at SW19 of avoiding the Novak trap. You cant give in to the endless cc bh.. Novak is the ultimate master of the tennis court. Seeing Novak, Roger, Rafa and Andy live you can see that regardless of position on the court. Those four had mastered every angle on the tennis court. @don_fabio @Fiero425 are two players who can speak to have experienced probably numerous hours on the tennis court that a player learns to master the angles which means whenever you are perceived to be out of position there is still a way to hit a winner and to stay in the point. Here is an example.

Johnny Mac knew all he had one acute angle to use to end the rally vs Ivan Lendl.

Jannik avoided the Novak trap at SW19 and served like every point was mp. He was glued in. Carlos has that ability vs Novak but he got caught in the Novak trap during the Olympic 24 games . He later corrected it during their next encounter. @El Dude was correct Felix knew better but didnt try to avoid the trap until the late in the match but the damage was done. Until Novak tears a muscle in his body, I would not discount his chances. the Anti Novak fans (myself included) were lucky Fronzi took out Novak at RG otherwise he would have destroyed Sascha or Coboli in the final.

Sorry AP
Novak will not be winning another GS title even with his favoured draws
Remind me how many titles he won last year?
That's right he vultures his own 250 tournament in Greece

Let's be real and look at the big picture he is looking and playing like an ageing 39 yo
I suggest people look how he played at Wimbledon this year and take off your Novak sunglasses

The sooner he retires the better as far as l am concerned he lied and cheated his way into Australia when we were locked down due to Covid he thinks he is above the law
My husband suffered a blood clot to his lung during Covid in Melbourne and I wasn't allowed to visit him because of Covid and l am in the medical profession
Novak came into Melbourne and I like others were glad he was deported

I understand Novak's tennis ability but he is 39 yo, he cant play like he used to? as I said go and watch him in his SF against Jannik at Wimbledon, he was slow and even said he was one shot behind, Jannik exposed him in all area's of his game, lets look at his current play like RG and Wimbledon? and I said he got a Free Ride to the SF at the AO in 2026, as I said he Vultured a ATP250 tournament last year at Greece in his new homeland, remind me of his other titles in 2025? to me there is more than just a players tennis ability and let's no forget his temper and being outed at the USO when he hit that lines women in the throat and she had to go to hospital
Again at this years AO he was lucky not to be outed he just missed a ball girl with his ball
Novak was aided by Craig Tiley CEO of Tennis Australia at the AO in 2022, he should have got the sack because of it, he knew what the rules were, he wanted Novak to get another GS title that was his main focus
Thank God Tilley is no longer the CEO of Tennis Australia, he is now USTA CEO, good luck with that ! as after what he did in 2022 I am glad to see the back of him and he wanted a bust of Novak at the grounds of Melbourne Park mind you? gee was never going to happen as at that time Melbourne was the Lock Down Capitol of the World, and when Novak arrived the fans hated him and wanted him out, to this very day, when I was in Melbourne for the AO this year, fans still remembered what Novak tried to do come in Unvaccinated and the fans still cant stand him what he tried to get away with, regardless of his talent and holding the most GS titles
BTW I have no problem with anyone not wanting the Covid vaccine that is their choice, still people have to respect what the rules were at the time during Covid, as a medical professional I had no choice to get vaccinated and my husband who is a Chief Marine engineer had to do the same. Covid is still around to this very day, not as bad of course and my husband has to take a Covid test to this very day before he joins his ship, if anyone on his ship tests positive when they are sailing the next port they are paid off and cant return to work until they are Covid negative, same applies to all that work in our hospital systems.

By the way I worked in ICU during Covid here in Sydney and if any one dares to tell me Covid isn't real? or it is just a bad flu?
I had to hold a 9 yo boys hand while he was gasping for air and I could not save him and his parents were not allowed in
That will haunt me to the day I die

no it's real I used to be a Federer fan when he played you can go through my old posts or literally ask anyone, but I am also objective and that implies I accept Novak for who he is and what he's achieved

24 slams, most weeks at no. 1, most records in the tennis book

whether or not he wins another slam

the numbers are set

and this is about tennis. It isn't a spiritual awakening class so this isn't about who's a good human being and who's not

well the reason they didn't want him at the AO is because that year Novak was about to break a certain record belonging to a revered gentleman called Rod Laver. Truth is truth. Bright as the day.

however as far as tennis analysis is concerned, you guys are right overall saying that novak has much less chances than before to win something. Ofc, with players like Alcaraz and Sinner rising you cannot expect a 39 year old to be favorite everywhere. That's not how nature works. Even though Djokovic has less aging factor than other people perhaps even that could fall short eventually. We are already seeing some of that. Plus, there's nothing wrong with new players rising. People get tired of watching the same person for years as well. That's one thing. Sinner and Alcaraz bring a fresh perspective for a lot of people. There's no denying that. And they are good players in their own right.
