Yes he was worried about Sinner. I wasnt.. Sinner was serving big and strong all day long.. He will get better..
I knew there would be rust and there was especially from the back of the court where normally he is soo good, UFE were UGH
Yep his 31 Aces saves the day......reminded me of how well he served when he won the Golden Masters

The difference is that Novak would never go 5 sets against Kecmanovic at Wimbledon. Maybe against Roger Federer, Andy Murray, JDMP, or (on an off day) FAA. But Kecmanovic is a routine win for Novak at Wimbledon.

Sorry, but Jannik isn't going to win Wimbledon this year.

I am not bothering to reply to Phil any more, he needs to go back and check in with Dr Google?
He tried to tell me that Shelton was the next big thing to challenge Jannik and Alcaraz? LOL!
Sinner leads their H2H 12-1
Just a reminder Phil Jannik went 5 sets at the AO against Meddy he came back from 2 sets down and won
Be Careful Karma has a way LOL! and of course your boy would have a routine win over Kermonovic :) that goes without saying :)

I'm still not sure if I agree with this, or at least as a kind of definitive characterization. Carlos has shown brilliance beyond Jannik, but Jannik has been more consistently great over the last two and a half years, aka "The Sincaraz Era." Carlos goes on runs, then peters out for awhile, while Jannik has only very short spells of struggling, then ends up playing in every final for most of a year.

The simplified version being: Carlos = higher peak level, Jannik = higher consistent plateau.

Now their history tells an interesting story. Carlos exploded in 2022, maintained in 2023, then Jannik leap-frogged him in 2024. While Carlos did win the Channel Slam, he was actually more consistent in 2023, and I think the question going into 2025 was whether he could maintain his best form to equal or surpass Jannik again.

Carlos did win the year-end #1 in 2025, and had a winning record against Jannik, but Jannik was still more consistently great and if it were not for the ban, he would have been YE1 (assuming he kept his actual results and added a bit more out of the four Masters he missed). The point being, they were basically equally good in 2025.

Carlos seemed to answer that at the AO this year, finally winning it (though not having to beat Jannik), but then started going a bit AWOL...still good results, but Jannik took over and went on that crazy Masters run, while Alcaraz fizzled and got hurt.

Anyhow, I do agree that in terms of brilliance on court, Carlos surpasses Jannik. But in terms of day in, day out play, I think Jannik is more consistently great. How that will play out over the rest of their careers remains to be seen. Carlos has a sizable edge in Slams (7 to 4), but Jannik a slight edge in Masters (10 to 8), despite getting started winning them a year and a half later, and has the two Tour Finals.

If we look at just 2024-present, we get:

JANNIK: 4 Slams, 2 Tour Finals, 9 Masters, 19 titles
CARLOS: 5 Slams, 0 Tour Finals, 4 Masters, 14 titles

Meaning, I'd say that Jannik has the slight edge. That +1 in Slams for Carlos is more than made up for by 2 Tour Finals and 5 Masters.

Carlos is almost two years younger, but we don't know how they'll age. Either way, I'm rather curious to see how it all unfolds, and especially if one or two players can sneak into the mix and "Djokovic" them.
Good post brother, but whatever way we look at it, Carlos had 7 slams including a career slam at the age Sinner won his first. Sinner is benefiting from Carlos development, and from the tour being in transition. I think and hope you’re right that there’ll be a third wheel someday soon, but not in the way that Djokovic waited until the other pair had punched themselves into middle age, before he finally turned up to benefit from that…

Quite frankly I cant see a third wheel soon, I have high hopes for Fonseca and we saw how he defeated Novak at RG, still he has some work to do to really challenge presently Alcaraz and Sinner, I also agree we need a third wheel to challenge

It’s probably a bit dark over there but still, that 2018 roof was shady af..
If we're going there, then let's be consistent and call the roof in the Sinner-Dmitrov match shady as well.

But all biases aside, the 2018 semifinals were the best pair of semifinals along with 2001. Too bad the 2018 final was crap.

Now to top the day/night is for Novax to play 5 long sets..

It feels like it! I left for the grocery store w/ Novak up a break or 2 & I come back to find he barely took the 1st set 6-4! WTF happened? I was so close to putting a hex on Sinner! I thought if he could be kept out there, either his fitness would come into play or he might get hurt! He survived that split mid-match! What was w/ the bloody shoe? Shades of "Kurt Shilling" going Frankenstein to win an American League playoff game over the Yankees over 20 yrs. ago! :astonished-face::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:
