Yeah that’s the weirdest thing. He evaporated. Up 2 sets, 5-1…then he was just like mist. It’s almost impossible to understand. I mean, if he was so sick, why play on? And if he could play on, why not do better?

It was a vanishing act. Even Rafa in the infamous “broke back mountain” match with Stan took a set…
He was definitely quite unwill, but...5-1. A great server. Hard to imagine how he couldn't find a way to win one of those final service games.

Really El Dude, he didnt have enough energy to push off in his serve for starters, he was committing DFs late in the final set, I am not making excuses just telling the hard cold facts when you get the chance watch the match in final stages.

Yeah, I know....I didn't watch but saw a clip of him hobbling. Really disappointing, but the silver lining is that the chances of a new Slam winner just rose exponentially. No offense to Novak, but I hope Fonzie upsets him...then it is really wide open.

Jannik and his team have to find an answer for his cramping in hot conditions, which are a part of our sport, quite frankly I dont know what the answer to this problem, both happening of late in the AO which he got away with and now at RG where he could not escape, tennis can be a brutal sport.
He wont be playing a warm up tournament to Wimbledon, good decision, also he is the defending champion
Yes it is now wide open, quite frankly the draw has opened up for Zverev, question is does he have the mental ability to go on with it and win his 1st GS title?
I would love for Fonseca to do well

Hang on I thought Fonseca v Novak was the night match on Chatrier
Just looked at the match schedule
Fonseca v Novak is the last match in the day session on Chatrier tomorrow
Zverev gets the night session he is playing a French player in Halys
Hasnt the draw opened up for Zverev, he missed playing Fils early due to Fils having to withdraw
If Zverev who I cannot stand cant win RG now he wont ever be able to win a GS title
I saw that too but wanted to let you vet for yourself.. the temps should be high and humid for Novak to wilt in .. Come on tennis gods keep high

No worries I should not have taken notice of one of my friends who texted me and said they had the night match, I thought I better double check and found out they were given the day match

A secondary impact of Sinner's loss is that he let Carlos back into the race for year-end #1.

EDIT: I forgot that Carlos withdrew from Wimbledon. As long as Jannik doesn't blow it again there, he should be fine.

Is this the biggest upset in tennis history? Seriously. I can't remember anything this severe. I mean, this isn't Rafa losing to Novak after being up two sets...not only is it a far inferior player, but 5-1 in the third! Just hard to get my mind around it.

His body was in cramp mode.. He was in trouble.. it wasnt a lot to do when it takes control of your body.. I saw the clowns on TNT post match saying pickle juice.. its just one of those things.. He should have had something like MUSTARD with Magnesium in it to get into his system earlier.. I tell you I swear by the stuff..I take a bottle and guzzle as much as I can pre and during the match.. gatorade and other electrolytes are too slow for me

He should have take a MTO.. I would have had someone meet in the shower with a mini IV.. that's all he needed.. poor guy just welted out there..
His body and mind literally gave up. I expected a comeback at some point, but he had nothing left. Said he didn't see a way out of it today.

Phil threw a curse on a guy before RG started.

All I can say Jannik's team has to find some cure for when he plays in hot and humid conditions
Tennis is brutal at times
I mean Jannik is serving at 5-1 for the match and shit happens, mind my French :)

I remember you saying Mustard with Magnesium ages ago when Moxie God Love her up in heaven, and I were talking about cramp
I also remember Carlos had a issue with cramps, though he hasnt had a cramping issue for ages

Just goes to show you, "the bigger they are, the harder they fall!" People have just about handed the crown to Sinner B4 doing that much! It is a lot for a young player, but Alcaraz has already outdone him! It's not just b/c of this upset, but I believe it will repeat itself more than likely! Today's players are tougher & not rollover as done for the Big 3 way back when! Today's stars' longevity are definitely limited! :angry-face::astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face:

Rafa’s never lost to Novak after being up two sets, but it’s funny, the other day I wondered if Rafa’s ever lost from two sets up and he did, against Fognini in New York in 2015 (aka, the Dark Days and Evenings)..

Ben Shelton whose draw opened up with Sinner going out, he was projected to meet Sinner in the QFs has just lost to Raphael Collingnon in straight sets 64 75 64 and I am not surprised at all, until he gets
1. Rally tolerance
2. A decent return game
3. Sometimes his points construction does my head in, he hasnt got any better in over 2 years!
He had a good chance to advance and has stuffed it up big time
