Any recent news on Rune and Alcaraz? Is Carlos still on track to come back at Queens or Halle? And Rune this year? @MargaretMcAleer ?
Rune picked up a small knee injury and has decided to wait for grass season, which is a wise decision
There is no confirmation at present that Alcaraz will come back for Queens or Wimbledon

Thanks! You are the #1 source for tennis news!

It is a pleasant surprise that Rune is coming back so soon - I was expecting after Wimbledon. But we'll see.

No worries,'
I am also surprised Rune is coming back for the grass, usually with such a serious injury it takes at least 9 months or 12 months after rehab, I hope he is not pushing himself to come back too soon.

Gee I dont know what is wrong with this site I have been trying to post for over 1 hour

Alcaraz has come on his own intragram page
His recovery is going well, but he still isnt ready to compete and will miss Queens and Wimbledon
He will keep working and try to come back as soon as possible
Alcaraz left a message of congratulations to Sinner on social media after he won the Golden Masters on Sunday he said he watched the Rome Final with ice on his wrist? so when I read that, I wasnt surprised he has withdrawn sad to say

That's really too bad. I think he would have been rusty and a good candidate for an upset, but still.

Not sure I agree about the tactic of Novak sitting out RG. He did just beat Jannik at the AO, and given how much Jannik has played, there's always the chance of cramping (which, I think, is the only way Jannik doesn't take home the RG title).

Or to put it another way, just think how regretful Novak would be if Jannik goes out early with cramping and he sees a Ruud-Fils final.

Expect more of this IMO! It won't be long B4 Sinner comes down w/ an injury that'll take him off the tour for a while! It's inevitable! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face:

Novak has been practicing with Zverev today he is not sitting out RG, unless he decides to today, as the draw comes out on Thursday 21st.
Lets not go overboard with Novak he is coming into RG as he said with 2 ongoing injuries,? shoulder and an abdominal issue? which he had when he went out in the 1st round in Rome, Novak said he wasnt in good shape heading into RG?
Sinner is now a different player than he was at AO this year? I mean he had 2/18 BPs in that SF against Novak I could not believe he did convert also his serve let him down, Sinner's serve is now one of the best in the tour
Also the heat factor in AO and humidity is on a higher level than RG, as I have been to both many times, AO wins hands down.

Just looking at the amount of points Alcaraz will lose,
2000 points in Paris and 1800 points between Queens and Wimbledon
My latest mail is that Alcaraz will probably be back for Monteral, which I guess is doable?
Quite frankly this wrist issue is now more serious than first reported, though there hasnt been any update from his team on latest scans etc,
Alcaraz did post on social media he was watching the Rome final with ice on his wrist? that is an ongoing treatment for anyone that has swelling on his wrist., he did say his recovery was going well but he felt he wasnt ready to come back to the tour for Queens and Wimbledon
In saying that Alcaraz is doing the right thing and not coming back until the wrist is fully healed, he has just turned 23 and has a lot of tennis to look forward to.

I am not surprised. You and i discussed his injury which I thought that he would be out past RG and SW19. Its the smart move.. This is an opportunity for someone like the lost Gen Champion Meddy to make his move and steal a few championship. He has the game to trouble anyone including Novak and Sinner. No Nadal, No Alcaraz. There's hope for the lost gen.. jajajaja

Sorry my boy is going to complete his career slam at RG he has already swept the main Masters on clay this year winning MC Madrid and Roma'
Next? :) also he is the youngest player at age 24 to win the Golden Complete Masters next? :)
BTW Meddy told Sinner at the net after Sinner beat him at Roma, "Your Too Good"
Dont burst my bubble AP:)

Andy Roddick was saying that Sinner has similar chances of winning RG as Rafa did in his prime. Not that he's as good as Rafa on clay, but a combination of his current level and gap between him and the field, and (presumably, Andy didn't say) Carlos being out.

As others--and myself--have said, we really need someone to emerge as an "in-betweener." I don't expect the Sincaraz Hegemony to really be challenged for at least 2-3 years, when Fondar/Joseca reaches prime level - but even that is in question, because we don't know how good they can get. But we need someone to become an Andy Murray type, and occasionally take out one of the big dogs. Zverev and Medvedev were kind of there, but I don't think either can beat one or both in a big event anymore. Daniil came as close as possible, which gives him kudos, but he's 30 now and I think his comeback is as high as it is going to get...he's a bit below his 2019-24 prime. Zverev will continue to be among the best of the field, and maybe give Carlos a good challenge, but continue to poop his pants when he sees Sinner in his draw.

Of the rest, Rune and then Draper were the best hopes, but I've got doubts about Rune coming back as good as he was, let alone better. Still, if he's healthy and has matured, he could take it up a notch and be a solid #3 for a few years. Draper will never be healthy enough.

That leaves Shelton and Fils. Shelton had his big Masters breakthrough last year and while I think he's a candidate to vulture a Slam in the case of Sincaraz both being hurt, I don't think he'll ever fine-tune his game enough to beat one of them in a Slam final. Fils is interesting...even though he went out early in Rome, his comeback is strong. But he still needs to take it up a notch. But he might have the combination of talent and desire to be the #3. He's my darkhorse for the Canada Masters...Carlos is questionable, and Sinner might either be pooped or skip it to recoup for the US Open (though he'll probably have a Masters sweep in the back of his mind).

Of the very young guys, Mensik has been a bit disappointing. I still think he'll be a top 10 guy eventually, but starting to doubt he'll ever have the well-rounded game to ever be anything more than a lower top 10 guy.

If Jannik wins even just one of the channel Slams, and does pretty well in the other, he may have the year-end #1 virtually wrapped up by July.
