Nah it looks like Zed is on a mission won the 1st set 62, over Blockx. I am just SB this match btw
One thing for Zed that has got to be an major issue which i give him credit is his juvenile diabetes.. Although he doesnt use it as an excuse, I cant imagine how he can compete at the highest level with all the sweating and adrenaline. During a match, for a non pre diabetic tennis player to maintain his blood sugar is a" muther" while battling your nerves. It definitely cant be easy.

I understand how difficult it can be for any athlete when they are diabetic, especially when they are on insulin injections, you have to make sure the exact timing when you take your first injection to the next, or else you could find yourself in dire straits
My own father had to have insulin injections, he made me give them to him if I was around, being in the medical profession, if he gave me cheek I told him I would push the needle harder into his tummy :) that stopped the whinging :)

The H2H isn't as bad as thought: Sinner up 9-4. I suppose what is bad is that Sinner has won 8 in a row.

BTW,
With his latest win, Sinner is now 116-29 in his career at Masters 1000 events, which is an 80% winning percentage
As of now, he's just the 3rd man with an 80% ( or higher) winning percentage Masters 1000 history, after, Nadal ( 82%) and Djokovic (81.4%)

There are subtle differences to watch Jannik play on clay right now compared to his version from 3 years ago
He opens up the court much better, makes better use of the spaces, slides and hits better

The same was said back in Jan. when Sinner appeared to "own" Djokovic! The old man "shocked the world" & was on course to take #25, but for Sascha's collapse in his SF vs Alcaraz! It was all set up! Sascha blew it for us all seeing such a historic achievement as if 24 wasn't! :face-with-hand-over-mouth::yawningface::fearful-face:

To win the biggest tournaments you have to beat the best in the world?
I was there live for the 2nd week of the AO 2026

Novak had a walkover, he was lucky to escape against Musetti, who was schooling him and had to retire in his match injured
Sinner who played poorly in his SF match, had enough BPs again Novak but could not convert
Zverev known to be a HeadCase, did his usual thing, we have all seen this movie before, Alcaraz the champion that he is broke him and won the match
I was there live for the mens final at the AO, Novak started well, but could not keep his level up and we all knew what the outcome would be
Alcaraz was too good went up another gear in the AO final and won his career slam the youngest in the history of the sport!

Interesting.. your guy is playing at his highest level. Its too bad its only Carlos that can push him hard on the clay..

I am also a Carlos fan and it is sad to see Carlos not able to defend Rome or RG in 2026
Though I am glad he is not pushing his wrist to comeback early, I dont want him to go down the path of Del Potro or Thiem,
Carlos and his team want to come back for the grass, if all is well, thank goodness there isnt a tear.

Agreed... I would not be surprised if he misses SW19 as a precaution..

Lets see, he will probably play Queens, he is the defending champion, as a warm up to Wimbledon, will be a bit rusty, remember 'cream always rises to the top' he will come back stronger.he is only 22 yo and has a lot of tennis to look forward to

I see my ole friend Fiero is around,, What's up.. the wrist as we all know is something that can take only so much stress and the longer the recovery period the better. I know I have told this before.. one of my best friends ever on the tennis courts had some stretched torn ligaments in his wrist. He was an educator under a HMO plan. although he had medical family members he decided to delay surgery until his PMO insurance kicked in later in the year. Well, the ligaments dried up and he was not able to use the wrist again. I felt bad for the dude who would just come out to watch us play and to sit permanently on the sidelines was sad. I know Carlos has hundreds of millions dollars but nothing can replace healthy wrists.

Whenever I hear anything about a wrist injury, I think Boris Becker! He was notorious for overusing his, resuiting in a fracture during Wimbledon back in '87! He was upset by some character in the 2nd Rd. from "down under" called Peter Doohan! That was his total claim to fame; beating Boris at SW 19 back then, almost 40 yrs. ago! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Being in the medical profession I dont take much notice of 'lay people' who do not understand the different types of 'wrist injuries to begin with."
BTW your old friend Fiero came on this board and said Alcaraz had surgery on his wrist? I dont know where he got that information from, he is wearing a splint which doesent mean he has had surgery
I quickly responded and actually told him what the problem is, I can repost it for you if you want me to and explain what type of wrist injury it is, I also explained to Murat, Kieran what the problem is.
My brother is also an Orthopedic Surgeon, who I have worked with on many occasion's.

Just caught finish of Sascha's match w/ Blockx! Two giants there! I may have caught comments that he looks a lot like Raonic! Spitting image, just not as "hulking!" Very impressive run by him, but Zverev's been on a heater, m/b getting that last energetic kick making all these SF's & Finals this season! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

This final is nothing more than another training session for Sinner. The gap in quality between these two players is ridiculous.

Quite frankly Don the quality of both Alcaraz and Sinner some of the rest of the field is ridiculous just saying :)
