Kryptonite takes opener vs Zed. On serve 1-1 in the 2nd after a rain delay
Fritz won in the second set TB. I didn't realize until Margaret mentioned and I looked it up, but, including today, Fritz has won their past 6 matches. First title this year. He played well, but Zverev donated a lot of errors, too.

To his credit, Zverev was very funny in his speech when he switched to English. "Taylor, I'm f8&king tired of you. Stay away from me. Don't come to Germany. Just kidding....etc." Much laughter.

I think I heard Djokovic probably won't be in the top 4 for seeding at Wimbledon! Is this the begin'n of the end? "All w/b revealed" as they say! :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Novak Djokovic on his plans,
" The only thing I currently have in my vision, the only thing that gives me motivation, is the 2028 Olympics in Los Angles" ( via social media)
Okay then :)
Would be fitting if Novak retires in 2028, then all of the Big 3 will have played their last major singles event during an Olympic cycle:

Roger Federer - 2021 Wimbledon
Rafael Nadal - 2024 Olympics
Novak Djokovic - 2028

I think I heard Djokovic probably won't be in the top 4 for seeding at Wimbledon! Is this the begin'n of the end? "All w/b revealed" as they say! :face-with-hand-over-mouth:
Djokovic being 5 might probably benefit him, if he gets Sinner or Alcaraz in a quarterfinal. If (and that's a big if) Djokovic wins that match, then he won't have to beat Sinner and Alcaraz back-to-back. I have Djokovic as the 2nd favorite over Sinner, behind Alcaraz. Djokovic has been there and done that. He's been to the last 6 Wimbledon finals, winning 4 of them. Sinner has never been to a Wimbledon final. If Djokovic faces Sinner at Wimbledon, I'm taking Djokovic. Wimbledon is a different type of pressure, and it tends to favor the more proven and experienced.

If anyone still thinks Novak isn't a contender at Wimbledon this year, take a look at Roger at 2019 Wimbledon. He almost (and really should have) pulled it off at the age Novak is now.

Zed will be hopping over to Halle where he is the No 2 seed and no Fritz wont be going much to his delight
Fritz is the better grass court player than Zed regardless of his winning H2H over him I was confident that Fritz would win
BTW Fritz never dropped his serve all tournament, well done!

BTW,
Seeing that Fritz won the Boss tournament he will jump 3 places to return to the Top 4, over taking Draper and Djokovic, Musetti respectively.Novak isnt slated to play any warm up events leading up to Wimbledon, though there is that exho Boodles he can play.
Fritz and Draper will compete at the Queens Club next., both players have points to defend, Draper specially.
Not being seeded No 4 at Wimbledon Novak could end up playing Sinner or Alcaraz in the QFs, even if he avoids them, he would have either Zverev or the 4rh seed between Fritz or Draper which also be a difficult match up.

You haven't been paying attention then. MM and I have been discussing this over a year. And most of the losses have come at the slams. Do you remember he ousted him at Wimby last year after being down. I know he got him at the USO either last year or 23.

He wasn't in the top 4 at RG either. Still got to the SF. What difference does it make at this juncture?

Listen, you don't have to keep regurgitating this material. You won't change any minds at this point. Seeing is believing for some folk.

I will be extremely surprised if he sticks around for that. That's 3 more years. He will be 41 when the games roll around again. He got his gold medal, I don't know what the lure would be for him in L.A.

So if this works out for Novak, we can thank the mediocrity of Zverev who fell to Fritz in the BOSS Final :lol6: It's amazing how the "Lost Gen. II" boys are all falling 1 by 1! First it was Thiem w/ injury, then Tsitsipas, add Medvedev to the mix, now Sascha who had every opportunity to make up some ground while Sinner was "on the shelf!" How does he lose in Germany to Taylor? Under Sincaraz, it's going to go the route of the ladies w/ no consistency as players flip these rankings upside down & every which way but loose! Can Draper, Musetti, & Shelton continue their rise? Fritz @ #4 isn't going anywhere IMO! I can see him upset in the 1st Rd. of Wimbledon quite easily! I'm hoping good things for Holger, but losing hope! Haven't heard what Novak's doing to prepare for grass yet! :fearful-face::yawningface::astonished-face::angry-face::anxious-face-with-sweat:

Tay has fast become the Ostapenko of the ATP. Iga be straight cringing when she draws Osta. At RG, that clown at the TNT desk ask her was she happy that Elena evicted her kryptonite. :lol6:
It is the most nasty, rat-faced Kryptonite, isn't it? At least Superman could wallow in the pomp of facing a rare glowing gem, but Ostapenko is a horrible character, a boo-hiss, a person who bullies kids (I'm certain) into handing over their clove drops. I saw a match of hers recently where her poor opponent wore the cheap clothing of a Kazakhstan firm called Xolyzxyckstov - and the umpire was decked out in the same, as a show of support.

She's a terrible advert for the sport. I generally cheer the aggressor, the one who doesn't care, the player who has gall and spite for pleasure, but she has no competing virtues that could make me like her. I dunno, maybe she has fans. I'm sure her bill for having them is huge... :lol6:

I think just the attempt to defend his gold medal will feel like closure for Novak. Kind of like Rafa competing at the Paris Olympics.

Even Roger tried to hold on long enough for an attempt at the Tokyo Olympics, but his body gave out just before at 2021 Wimbledon.

Barring injury/his body giving out on him, I really think Novak goes for it.

Certainly not cataloging the H2H in my memory. Yes, it was interesting to revisit.
