Wow
Canadian LL Diallo comes back from a set down to defeat Dimitrov 57 76(7) 64, he does have an impressive serve,, moves well for a tall player, good at the net, also had a MTO, hedaved 3 MPs though he held his nerve and served out the match!
Diallo is into his first Masters 1000 QF!

Perhaps an end of an era! Novak had a nice run in Miami, looking as if he was ahead of schedule going into clay season! WTF happened? Three more losses in a row! I've been saying today's players are a lot more competitive than past generations w/ most on auto-pilot just bashing the #ell out of the ball! I'm gonna give Novak grace thru Wimbledon as he proved us all FOOLS getting to Wimbl. final, then completing his trophy case w/ OGM in Paris! Edberg & Becker burned out early since their success was unpecedented as teenagers! Becker won 2 Wimbledons, while Edberg had already won a Jr. GS & OGM B4 turning 19! Novak has already done the "Old Man Agassi" yrs., banned from 2 majors & needing the practice in qualifying for YEC in '22 going to places like Astana & Tele Viv! He just was more successful at it than Andre taking 2 more YEC's setting new rec. w/ 7, 3 more majors in '23, & wrapping it all up w/ OGM in '24! We'll see if this NG of Sincaraz can represent half as well! :astonished-face::fearful-face::yawningface::anxious-face-with-sweat:
Early success for Edberg and Becker might have had a hand in their relatively early decline. Certainly, Borg and Wilander were burnt out and/or done as elite players by age 25 and 24, respectively, and they were elite guys at 17 years old. But...we have Rafa, who was elite at 18 (like Alcaraz, now), but won his last Slam around his 36th birthday. Going way back, Ken Rosewall won his first Slam at 18, his last at 37 - still the longest Slam-winning span of years (20 seasons).

My point was more that the Big Three are exceptions, in terms of the latter half of their careers. Mere mortal greats are mostly done as elite players by their early 30s, often in their late 20s. But even Roger started a very slow decline at age 26, with 2008 being a big drop-off from 2004-07. Novak was great in 2018-23, but stats aside, maybe not as great as he was in 2011-16. Similarly with Rafa in 2017-22 vs. his earlier peak of 2008-13. All three rose back to a higher level than anyone other than each other (and Andy) - partially because a fall-off from their very best was still very high, but also partially because of being followed by two of the weakest generations of the Open Era.

Today was the first time I watched him play. He's a cool character, given what he was up against.

I have watched him a bit before, this was the first time I watched his full match, he held his own when he was serving for the match, good focus

Even then, Edberg and Becker were still very good during their age 28 seasons. Edberg won 3 titles, had 60 match wins, and finished the year ranked #7 in 1994. Becker won 5 titles (including the Australian Open), had a 42-14 record, and finished the year ranked #6 in 1996. Their drop off didn't happen until very late in their 20s/early 30s.

Well said Fiero.

It’s going to be so strange when the last of the Big 3 is gone.

Can you imagine an era in another sport where, say, Michael Jordan, LeBron James & Oscar Robertson were all playing at the same time ?

I forget to post this earlier,,
The only other players who could pass Musetti in the ATP Live rankings are Medvedev and Ruud who will compete against reach other in the QFs, with one of them falling out of contention, this ensures Musetti will ascend inside the Top Ten next week
