About Munich:

Munich, the capital of Bavaria, is home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums. The city is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration and cavernous beer halls, including the famed Hofbräuhaus, founded in 1589. In the walkable Old Town, Marienplatz is a central square containing landmarks such as Gothic Neues Rathaus (town hall), with a popular glockenspiel show.

The city has also hosted the Olympic Games and is home to Bayern Munich, Germany's most decorated football club.

Munich has a rich tennis history with The International Tennis Championships of Bavaria first held in 1900. The BMW Open by FWU AG was first staged at Munich’s Iphitos Tennis Club in 1974.

This one got the best field among the three 250s of the week , perhaps because they give a BMW to the winner in addition to the prize money (do they?).

Tommy Haas says this will be his last Munich. Somehow missed that he's 39!

I guess no one cares about all these extraneous 250 events! Haas gone due to countryman Struff in "straights!"

Connors retired when he was 39 if my memory's good...
I think Connors was 44, but he reached the SF at the USO at 39.

Haas lost today to Struff (who looked excellent on the clay, it should be mentioned.) They gifted him with some lederhosen.

Always liked watching Tommy Haas.. one of my favourite players. Glad to see him getting some nice tour send-offs.

It's only natural that there is less interest/activity when none of the big 5 are playing. I'm still following the scores a bit though, even though with Delpo and Haas out there is even less interest for me ...

It makes me laugh, though, to remember that until recently Queens and Halle were 250 tournaments. The imbalance between clay and grass is quite sad IMO, even though it has gotten at least a little better from last year.

It'll be interesting to see how A Zverev does here though. My guess is he won't get past RBA on clay, though.

I think a lot of people in fact care for those tourneys. There are a lot of good players out there worth a watch.
