Amazing match. Amazing Rafa. I am so happy he won a close 5 set matches because at the USO he had lost some heartbreaking ones in the past (Fognini, Pouille...). Well done GOAT.

And the nightmare continues. Another match where the opponent was much better but choked. Why do normal tennis fans have to suffer endlessly at the hands of this evil moonballer I will never know. Doesn't stop at RG and now it's spread to non-clay surfaces. Sickening result for tennis.

I envy those that don't hate and I'm not kidding. Life would be much easier if I didn't hate certain athletes and people in general. But some things are beyond my control.

Not even trying to hear that. Someone who sacrifices their sleep to watch a player they don't like has control in spades.

So I awake to Sportscenter again and get the result of this match. Almost 5 hours it said w/ a fair amount of people still in the stands. Congrats to Domi for taking the match to 5 sets. Great job Nads and his fans as he was able to move on to the SF.

Ah, I thought he was a Southern Cal boy haha. Well anyways I'm glad he's on my team, we'd have been completely irrelevant the past 10 years without him. He deserves a lot better than the Packers terrible management.

I remember seeing him at Univ of Cal in college and thinking he was pretty good but nothing special. Apparently arm strength was an issue coming into the NFL which is hard to believe now. Best QB I've ever seen though not greatest of course. He needs to drag the weak squad to another couple SB titles for that.

But matches like yesterday won't prevent the asshole tournament directors from keeping these trash slow courts. This is what they want, that and I have a feeling they may be fans/friends with Nadal and are happy to use as heavy a ball as possible.

soooo being away in north wales with my mum for abit I didn't find out this epic score until I switched on the hotel room telly and got bbc info service up on the screen (same for federers loss yesterday)..

1st shock was seeing via just the score the theim machine streamrollering el rafa 0-6 in set 1. then the usual slow grind comeback in sets 2 and 3 by rafa, and then a surprise rearguard comeback by thiem..

finished 2.03am local time did it ?. (yikes). about to scuttle off to usopen.org to check out the stats and the match time.

There is no justice in a World where Aaron Rogers has only 1 SB ring to Eli Manning’s 2... Agree that Aaron has dragged the Packers to contention year after year, your front office’s moves are a head scratcher, to say the least.

Back to tennis, Djokovic really hasn’t had so far a tough road to hoe. The path has opened up through the tried and familiar like Gasquet Avenue.

I’m always iffy about those easy paths because you don’t know until hindsight if the person doesn’t get match tough enough...

They might want the courts slowed down, but if they do I doubt it’s exclusively about Nadal.

In fact I always hear in these forums how Federer is the most popular, best goodwill ambassador, sponsors’ Golden boy, fills the most seats, fan adulation, etc etc. Why undercut your favorite son?

*If* they are deliberately slowing down the courts there must be something the tournament directors , including Wimbledon and the USO want to do other than favoring one player who is in the last years of his competitive career. It may or may not be about helping specific players because we are talking about an individual (tournament director) with the power to tweak the surface and to go with heavier or lighter balls depending on their preference. I mean it's clear as day that Wimbledon and the USO are significantly slower than they used to be. The Federer fans will pack the stadiums even if their boy is playing on extremely slowed down surfaces.
