The 29 year old Scot who split with Amelie Mauresmo prior to the French Open made the statement prior to the start of the Aegon Championships at Queens Club, London.
"I had two very successful years working with him. I'm looking forward to Ivan joining the team again and helping me try and reach my goals. Ivan's single-minded and knows what it takes to win the big events"
Under Lendl's watch, Murray won the US Open, the Olympic Games and Wimbledon during a highly successful two year period from 2012-2014.
"Andy and I have always stayed in contact so it should be fun to be part of his team again." said the 56 year old former world number one, who won eight grand slam titles in his own right.
Jamie Delgado, who was appointed by Murray in February will retain his position as assistant coach.
