I have tickets for the day session tomorrow. Not really my ideal day, as it turns out. We're not going early, but I'll see Del Potro v. GG Lopez, though I don't expect to last for all of that one. Wawrinka v. Stepanek in the Grandstand could be fun. Maybe watch Fognini play, and nip in for a bit of Paire v. Bogomolov. I'd like to cheer James Blake when he comes out, but he's playing Karlovic (zzzzz) late in the afternoon, so I doubt I'll stick out the whole match. Also, maybe Hewitt v. Brian Baker. I've seen Hewitt on Grandstand before, and he's still fun to watch.

Murray a night match with rain forecast. Thanks US Open.

I don't see rain in the forecast, so that's something. :(

I hope you're right Moxie. I was only going by comments on twitter. I read that rain was forecast for 8pm and Andy was starting at 7pm.

Not happy that Andy is playing so late. Even without a possible rain delay he's still playing nearly 2 and a half days later that Rafa.

Hi moxie
I am also going tomorrow daytime. There will be one good match to see that is Brands-Anderson.
Enjoy.

Well, I might get in at the end of that one, but we've elected not to go early. Enjoy the day, Mog!

I am not happy with those imbecile organizers either. they spent years shafting the clay warrior.

now they are shafting andy.

you can make that 3 days: it will be nearly 3 full days into the slam and andy has yet to face an opponent.

night match could end up finishing really late if there are rain delays so that is another problem he will have to deal with.

they should not be doing that to defending champion. he has a great chance to get to the final if only they would treat him fairly.

Agree. Defending champion should play on Ashe. Wed start is nonsense in a slam, for anyone.

For the record, Ashe is a hideous monstrosity. I hate it with a passion. God bless America.:nono

Oh, fun tip about Hingis...I saw the Italian doubles duo, but didn't look at who they were playing. Ct. 17 can be hard to get into for a match like that, but I'll try.

Janowicz, Dimitrov, Gulbis, Rosol, Pospisil, Stakhovsky and Nishikori already out and on their way home. That's quite some list full of pretenders...uh I mean tennis finest talents, I'm speechless. Raonic and Tomic to carry the burden of a lost generation. Good luck with that. :cover I'm also disappointed to see Monaco, Verdasco and Almagro losing so early. And there are still lots of 1st round matches to be played in the upper half of the draw. Are we going to witness a record breaking number of seeds and top 50 players going out in the first round? Who's next today?

Ok I've been out for a while but who made this stupid list of tennis potentials to include Rosol, Starkhovsky (!?!? the guy is almost retired) and Pospisil? Harrison has also been mentioned the other day. These are all very average top 100 players.

And I'm not writing off Nishikori because of one 1R loss. He will not be the next world no. 1. But he is a consistent top 20 player IMO, like Dimitrov Raonic and Janowicz. Good to watch, with good results but who might still lose in a 1R GS.

I don't get why new good players automatically need to reach the heights of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. People love to write them off, although nobody is claiming that they will be the next all-time great.

Ticket holders for Tuesday's night session might have felt a little short changed as they witnessed just 35 games across two matches, with Novak Djokovic beating Ricardas Berankis 6-1 6-2 6-2 and Victoria Azarenka crushing Dinah Pfizenmaier 6-0 6-0.

Why the hell did thay not play Murray on Tuesday's night session.

Wednesday's late matches have already had more drama by virtue of the fact that reigning champion Andy Murray has been kept waiting for three days to play his first match. "I'm playing my first round match at the US Open at 7pm on a Wednesday..." he tweeted on Tuesday evening. Laura Robson will attempt to reach the third round against Caroline Garcia on Court 11 at around 13:00 BST.

USO could not organize a piss up in a brewery.

You forgot Harrison! But of course, he's gone out to Nadal so that's a reasonable loss than all others. Hoping for Tomic to go far but because of his first round match, he might not stay fit to go deep. Raonic will probably do better than Tomic. Verdasco is highly inconsistent.

Apart from Janowicz, all others are more or less talented.
