Roger Federer is currently the oldest ATP ranked #2 since the legendary longevity king himself, Ken Rosewall in 1975. Rosewall was about 40 years and 7 months old when last listed at #2 on June 2, 1975.
Andre Agassi was 33 years and 47 days old on 15 June, 2003 when he last held #2. He then went on to become the oldest #1, last ranking there at 33 yrs 131 days on 7 Sept., 2003. Ivan Lendl was the oldest year end #1 at 29 years 299 days.
Roger rose to #2 in the world at 33 years and 66 days on 13 Oct.,2014 and is still there.
Congratulations to him on his longevity achievement one ranking slot away from the top of the world.
He is now going for both Agassi's and Lendl's #1 records. If he gets the Year End #1, on Dec 31, he'll hold the #1 ranking at 33 yrs 145 days. Let's see if he makes it. If he does, there will be something more to say.
Respectfully,
