I am voting Stan in 3. In truth, no clue!

I think Roger will take it. It isn't a GS but Roger has to be extra motivated to capture his first MC title after 3 losses in the final to Nadal. I also don't think it hurts Roger's motivation to enter the match as Swiss #2 :)

Shoulda called this thread Swiss Roll.

I dunno who will win, but it's a great change from Nole-Rafa, who currently hold all these titles...

I am not sure how much of the new found mental toughness Stan achieved by beating Rafa and Nole applies to Roger. If it does, with the game he showed today, we will have a nice match in our hands. If not, I expect Roger to win in 2 sets. We know Roger is going to show up for this one. But which Stan will show up?

Their last two matches went the distance, and Stan turned it around against two guys he had never beat this year... http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=F324&oId=W367

I would not call 6-0 in the third set as going to distance.;)

Will he have to play well to Stan(d) a chance? Roger that.

either Federer or stan will win. not quite sure who will win at the moment..I will mull it over.

I will have a clearer idea of who will win after the final so I will decide then.

Distance usually just means going to 3 in a best of 3, but the point was more that this isn't like rafa, where he had never taken a set. I think his Fed mental issues should be easier than Rafa.

Well, Stan has actually won a whole match against Fed as you can see.

Roger finally will win Monte Carlo in straight sets.

Federer barely got by Jo-Willy; what makes you think he can handle Wawrinka? A couple years ago, a psychological edge might be in play, but I think Stanley's over that; taking out Nole, Rafa, and Murray of late in big matches! :clap

Absolutely. Wawrinka is a different kind of match for Roger, as the 13-1 head-to-head demonstrates. This isn't Tsonga, Nadal, or Djokovic; it's Stan.

Incidentally the one time Stan beat Roger at this very tournament in 2009, Roger won Roland Garros. So I doubt he's too gutted about that one loss.
