Rafael Nadal remains unbeaten in Rio as he and partner Marc Lopez defeated Juan Martin Del Potro / Maximo Gonzalez (ARG) 6-3 5-7 6-2 in the Doubles Competition. Del Potro came in on the back of two gruelling singles matches and less than five hours sleep. It showed in the third set as the Argentinian couple fell away.

Djokovic suffers another early loss
Novak Djokovic’s hopes of winning an Olympic medal for Serbia were dashed Monday, as the World Singles Number One, together with partner Nenad Zimonjic fell to defeat at the hands of Brazilian pairing Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares in an hour and 13 minutes.

With a second early defeat in less than a week of Olympic Games, the question remains whether Djokovic will decide to play mixed doubles or end his Rio programme.

Melo and Soares, are forming a powerful duo in the fight for Olympic gold, and will face Romanian Florin Mergea and Horia Tecau in the Quarter Finals.

Johnson and Sock keeping the Stars and Stripes Flying

Steve Johnson and Jack Sock kept the flag flying for the United States with a 6-4 7-6 win over Juan-Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah of Colombia, as their compatriots Brian Baker and Rajeev Ram fell to a defeat at the hands of Austria’s Oliver Marach and Alexander Peya.
