in my view ..
Slovakia will beat Australia, even with Stosur very hard to beat and Slovakia nominating Cepelova and Schmiedlova to saturdays matches. Cepelova only Slovak who doesnt have negative h2h with Samantha (she has 1-1, schmiedlova, cibulkova have negative h2h and never beat Stosur, cibulkova did not win a set against Stosur in 5 matches), so not so suprising that Cibulkova is not playing .. matches are sold out ..
Romania will beat Czechs, Pliskova and Kvitova seems little bit out of form and with Halep, it is like 2-0 for Romania already :)
and finally I would guess that Germany will lose with Switzerland. Kerber could be tired after AO win celebrations, Bencic is playing good this days and Hingis in doubles can be the one who will take the decisive point on Sunday ..

Not sure about the Germans - Kerbers AO win might work the other way too... But yeah, could hinge on the doubles and you'd have to like Hingis.

Good to hear the Slovakia/Oz match is sold out. Should be a good atmosphere.

Sharapova has never been known as a doubles player, though she has improved her volley play over the years in singles

If Sveta can keep her focus she can play doubles.Netherlands lead Russia 2-0,interesting to see who plays doubles for Russia now, they need to win the doubles.

Having watched Fed Cup for many years,I don't look at any players H2H in matches, you know when a player wears their countries colours to me that spurs them on to play well, regardless if they have a winning or losing H2h against any player,I have seen that happen soo many times in Fed Cup and also Davis Cup.Playing for your country is a honor just ask the great players of Fed Cup or Davis Cup.

no doubt it is honor to play for your country and it helps, but sometimes H2H just speak for itself

I'm somewhere in the middle - H2H tells us of the match up, but some players just play out of their skin when they're playing for their country. Nalbandian was sometimes unrecognisable in Davis Cup the way he applied himself. Also who can forget Hewitt's 5 set triumph over Federer...

I don't think the H2H can be overlooked, but the team event and an often raucous crowd throws a lot more variables into the pot.

Funnily enough, I was also thinking of a British 400m runner back in the day called Phil Brown. Couldn't do squat in the individual events but put him in a relay on a team - the guy was sensational. He glided past many superior athletes (based on individual events) when he was running in the relays.

Good win for Australia in the doubles with the pairing of Sam and Casey, people tend to forget Sam is a GS doubles winner, also a GS Mixed Doubles Winner.
