On July 11th, 2004, Stefan Edberg officially became a member of Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, along with Steffi Graf and Dorothy Cheney. This is his induction speech, filmed live and kindly contributed by fan Donna Anstey.
Stefan recalled some of his best moments as a professional and paid tribute to long time coach Tony Pickard, wife Annette Olsen and his children (all present at the ceremony), but also to Bjorn Borg and his parents in Sweden, who were respectively source of inspiration and big support in his young age.
There were also some funny moments: Stefan thanked Tony Pickard for coming with a "big fat contract" when he was seventeen, reminded the American crowd of the time he beat United States in Sweden to win his first Davis Cup and said that to get to Australia for the first time in 1983 it took him 54 hours...
