The Tournament:

The Cincinnati Masters or Cincinnati Open (branded as the Western & Southern Open for sponsorship reasons) is an annual outdoor hardcourt tennis event held in Mason, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati. The event started on September 18, 1899, and is the oldest tennis tournament in the United States that is still played in its original city.

The tournament is the second largest summer tennis event in the U.S. after the US Open, as its men's event is one of the Masters 1000 tournaments on the ATP Tour, and its women's event is one of the WTA 1000 events on the WTA Tour.

About Cincinnati:

Cincinnati is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Hamilton County. Settled in 1788, the city is located at the northern side of the confluence of the Licking and Ohio rivers, the latter of which marks the state line with Kentucky. The city is the economic and cultural hub of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. With an estimated population of 2,265,051, it is Ohio's largest metropolitan area and the nation's 30th-largest, and with a city population of 309,317, Cincinnati is the third-most populous city in Ohio after Columbus and Cleveland, and 65th in the United States. Throughout much of the 19th century, it was among the top 10 U.S. cities by population, surpassed only by New Orleans and the older, established settlements of the United States eastern seaboard, as well as being the sixth-most populous city from 1840 until 1860.

Draw has been completed for Cinncy
I have done the projected QFs by seedings,

Sinner (1) vs Musetti (8)
Fritz (4) vs Rune (7)
Zverev (3) vs Shelton (5)
Alcaraz (2) vs A.de Minaur (6)

F. Cerundolo has withdrawn a LL will replace

The draw looks quite balanced for once lol

Some Fun R1 matches,
Etchevery - Shang ( vs FAA)
Fonseca - Bu ( vs Davidovich)
Brroksby - Muller ( vs Fils)
Monfils - Basavareddy ( vs Zverev)

In Jannik Sinner press conference at Cincinnati he was asked why did he decide to bring back Ferrara?
"Its important to manage your energy wisely. We're already said everything in the press release"
A typical reply from Sinner to the point and I knew he would not expand any further.

An evasive reply, unfortunately. He’s not helping himself here. It comes across as arrogance…

Knowing Jannik I didnt think he would expand, that is his choice of course, he is a person that keeps his cards close to his chest always has been.
It might come across as arrogance, I could name a few other top players that have come across as arrogant over the years and also presently.
Personally I dont think Jannik is arrogant, he is shy and introverted.

Whatever he is, and I like him, he’s not reading the room on this…

Phew Fonseca comes through in a hard fought 3 set match over Bu!
I think Fonseca plays Foki next, he will need to have his engine running, as Foki is one of the quickest players on the tour

An ageing Frenchman Bonzi d Matteo Arnaldi in 3 sets, Matteo's game suits the HC, he is going backwards instead of forward, probably due to the fact he hangs around Musetti too much!

One thing worth noting is that Alcaraz is on a six finals streak: in each of his last six events he's made the finals, winning four of them. I think it is safe to say that he's played the most consistently well in his career, even more so than last period despite losing Wimbledon this year. The big question is whether he can translate it to hards, and the late season when he has traditionally done poorly.
