WTA Carlsbad Premier Entry List:
Victoria Azarenka
Agnieszka Radwanska
Petra Kvitova
Roberta Vinci
(WC) Samantha Stosur
Jelena Jankovic
Ana Ivanovic
Carla Suárez Navarro
Dominika Cibulkova
Svetlana Kuznetsova
Laura Robson
Varvara Lepchenko
Urszula Radwanska
Julia Goerges
Daniela Hantuchova
Monica Puig
Ayumi Morita
Bethanie Mattek-Sands
Francesca Schiavone
Flavia Pennetta
Tamira Paszek
(WC) Allie Kiick

There is still potentially 2 more wildcards to be given out if they want to use them. Top 4 seeds get a bye R1.

Much stronger field than Stanford. Cibulkova #3 seed in Stanford isn't even seeded here. Incidentally Cibulkova is the defending champion, but the field was ravaged last year due to the Olympics (Cibulkova was #2 seed).

I will be interested to see how Vika returns from her injury.I think if she wins this tournament she could take the no 2 spot from
Sharapova? someone please correct me if I am wrong.
I am hoping Kvitova can do well in this tournament.
Glad to see Stosur got a w/card she needs the hc practice after her loss at Stanford.

If Vika makes the final she will go to world number 2.

Exactly. This is the big unknown.

I also wonder how Radwanska will do, since she has a good chance of winning again today, and making the final tomorrow. How tired will she be?

As for Stosur, I have zero expectations at this point.

I am surprised Caro is not here...

Not so surprised. She's injured (look picture - heavy strapping) and she's doing the right thing to train as much as possible before having a real match. Then she's got the racket problem too (see picture - still black). And not least she needed a bit of romance too and of course her new darling the cute dog Bruno. We shall not expect the fantastic return, but I've got a good feeling about 2014. Yeah well we can all have our guesses and dreams and the only person who can answer this is Caroline - I hope the best for her:shy:

Came to watch his mommy practice for the first time! His daddy @mcilrorory would have been proud of his behavior!

Beautiful firework display happening outside, it has lasted 25 min already! Sitting on the terrace watching it!

Slamin' Sammy was bad early, bad during the clay season and didn't fare any better during the grass season.
I really doubt anything would get better for her during the hard court season.
But hey, this is WTA and I've been wrong plenty before...

This is a excellent field despite missing some top ten players. Disappointed Flavia did not beat Schiavone. If Vika is feeling in top form I slightly favor her to win this tournament.

I'd go w/ Vika even at 80%. If she withdraws then Aga.

I'll say Vika or Petra. Cibulkova, I don't see that happening, not a week to week winning player.

She comforting her boyfriend, or comforting one another.

Anyway, not sure she is missed, not amongst favorites when a tourney is contested anymore.
