Aussie Open 2015 Court and Ball Speed

So for the 2015 Aussie Open we have a good number of players talking about how fast the courts are.

Sam Querry even claims it is the "fastest" hard court he has played on.

The tournament denies any change to court speed but does admit a new ball, tighter wound ball was chosen to speed up play.

At first I thought I was imaging things, but the pace of shot, match to match is clearly quicker, and just about the quickest I have seen. Even players like Seppi and Schmee (what a warrior) were able to consistently hit winners from the baseline.

I actually wonder what the winner stats are for this tournament and if they are any different than last year, or even to the US Open.

It's looked really fast to me also. A lot more 1-2 stroke points.

The men's matches look decent enough speed, certainly a bit better than last year but the women's matches are something else with the even lighter balls they use. If anyone saw Camila Giorgi belting seven shades of sh1t out of the ball last night you can clearly see how fast the women's matches are.

Yep, the two ladies were knocking the Bjezus out of the ball.. I like to see matches played that way

Haven't noticed a great deal of difference. They should make the AO BO3 until the SF in order to speed up these matches.
