Makes sense from Lendl's perspective (I.e. I have done what I came for, and want to return to semi-retirement). Stinks for Murray though as Lendl did a great job for him.

Crikey! That's a huge shock. Came out of the blue, actually, but from their comments, it seems to be amicable. Wonder what he'll do next. I think the timing is woeful...

Lendl did a great job for Murray,i'm kind of sad this has happened.Maybe this is what was agreed from the start? Lendl said he will always be in Andy’s corner, maybe from time 2 time we will see him with Andy.

That "always be in Andy's corner" remark looks decidedly distant and metaphorical, to me. But I think Riotbeard is right: lendl may have achieved what he set out to, and he mentioned in his press release that he wants to be free to play more now himself, which is something he wasn't doing two years ago...

In some ways, feels like Andy lost his mojo after the Wimbledon title. OK, the injury and the break has affected to his game. But maybe he wants some change, he doesn't anymore need the experience of a major champ as he's already done that himself.

I did not see that coming...especially right now when Murray is trying to find his game. I thought a coaches job would be even more crucial at a stage like this. all the best to both.

That's the thing. I think the timing is weird. Does Lendl even have any seniors matches upcoming? Will be curious to know if Iona has trawled up any more info...

I'm going to be interested in seeing how the press deals with this come the French Open, when, like in Australia, a lot of attention is going to be given to the celeb coaches of Federer (Edberg) and Djokovic (Becker), and to a lesser extent Nishikori (Chang) and Cilic (Ivanisevic).

It's going to be very interesting if Murray is in contention in any of the next 3 or 4 slams. People will make inferences based on this split. The fact is, he knows how to win slams now. But if he doesn't win any...

I think they mutually agreed to use the word "mutual" but this was not a mutual decision.

Lendl wants to play the seniors tour ("I feel like it is time for me to concentrate on some of my own projects moving forward including playing more events around the world which I am really enjoying"), and doesn't want to be associated with Andy during this lengthening period of uncertainty.

lol wut ?

looks like lendl finished it, don't believe that "mutually agreed" guff, that's just a tarted up false reality for face saving public consumption..i would wager.

lets face it..this is the last thing andy wants with his erratic diplays post injury and with Miami then clay coming up.

Was Lendl at IW?

No.

Hmmm, the mystery deepens. Maybe Andy is not in a post-surgery slump, maybe it's a post-Lendl slump...

To be honest, Lendl's absence at IW didn't strike me as unusual, since many superstar coaches don't appear at every single tournament.

Well, he better snap out of it quick. 1000 points to defend here...

Also, who would make a good coach for Andy? Tactically, Andy is pretty sound I think, when his weapons are clicking. Lendl helped improve his forehand but I think it can get better. He definitely needs to improve his second serve...So, who out there can help him?

For the second serve, for sure, not for the forehand though...:snigger
