Who wins? The head-to-head is 5-1, in Tomas's favor:

RE: 2015 Monte Carlo semifinal: Berdych/Monfils

Monfils has been playing well, but I think this will be it. I'll give him one set, but Berdych wins in three.

H2H is 5-1 Berdych, but they are even at one a piece on clay. Monfils has the capabilities to make better players crumble. I'm just not sure he has it in him to win another. I pick Tomas in 2 - unless Monfils is able to bring it again.

Doesn't make sense to me that the h2h is so much in TB's favor. I am think Nehmeth is correct, it really depends on Monfil's desire to really want to compete. I think the French influenced crowd will be heavily in Gael's corner. It really would be nice to see him just give a real damn and want to be a champion instead of a showman, he is too old for this lack of commitment.

I would love to see Gael stay as on-form and focused as he has been and take it. It mainly depends on him, I would say, because top Monfils beats top Berdych, esp. on clay. He does love a crowd, and as A-P says, the crowd should be firmly behind him. If he does win, I reckon it'll take 3.

This will be Berdych's 18th Masters semifinal. He is 3-14 so far. Not too good but he always runs into the Big Four. This is a great chance for a fourth Masters final.

As for Monfils, this is 4th Masters semifinal and first since 2010 Paris. :eyepop Can he play inspired tennis for three matches in a row? I'll believe only when I see it.

Berdych in three for the honor of eating a Djokovic bagel in the final.

Gael is in some sort of a groove. He might take the Bird out in 3.

But with Gael, one always remembers the disclaimer that you see at the bottom of investment company's commercials: Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results etc....

Monfils is playing horrible. Berdych wins the first set in 25 min and breaks to start the third. Very disappointing by Monfils so far.

Berd gets broken and then breaks right back... for all his brilliance, I cannot stand Monfils. I appreciate his shotmaking ability and athleticism, and then get angry when I think of how utterly wasted it is with the person in whom it resides. :nono

Although your words are a bit harsh about Monfils, however they are true.

I would be very surprised if Monfils would be playing well match by match the whole tournament, he never did before and he never will :nono

I'm glad Berdych won. I want Rafa to punish him in the final for that match in Oz... :)

My Friend, Rafa would provide Berdych a clay court lesson, if only that match could come to fruition:clap

Berd is always easy walkover for Novak.
