Fiero is the Donald Trump of tennis fandom. We laugh with him and at him. But I love the guy.

Really, what he is trying to mask is not only the fact that Andy Murray wrestled the #1 ranking from Novak, but Novak underwent a rather epic collapse.

ATP Ranking points on June 20, 2016 (before Wimbledon):
1. Novak Djokovic, 16950 (career high)
2. Andy Murray, 8915

In other words, Novak had almost double the ranking points as Andy, +8045, with half the season left. Novak was coming off the most impressive year and a half span in Open Era history:

Paris Masters, 2014 to Roland Garros, 2016:
  • Five of Six Grand Slams won, one Final
  • 17-4 out of 22 big event finals played (4 Slams, 1 TF, 12 Masters)
  • 135-9 record (93.8 W%)
That second one is particularly impressive, imo: He played in 22 big events, reached the final of 21 of them, winning 17 of them. Just ridiculous.

So that's where Novak was after winning Roland Garros. After that he went out in the 3R of Wimbledon. He did come back and win the Canada Masters, but then went out in the first round of the Olympics, lost in the US Open final to Stanimal, lost in the SF of Shanghai, QF of Paris, and then the Tour Finals final to Andy.

Meaning, after that same Roland Garros, Andy won Wimbledon, Olympics Gold, then he lost in the Cincy final and the USO QF, he won his last five tournaments--Beijing, Shanghai, Vienna, Paris, and the Tour Finals--to steal the #1 ranking away. Of course it probably ruined him--or at least hastened his end--but it was one of the most impressive surges I've ever seen.
So the conclusion is that Djokovic managed to allow Andy freaking Murray of all people to have a great run and dethrone him. Conclusion is that Djokovic is a fake, all other evidence be damned.

I don't know what I like more, to mock the 6 kings slams, be a dick with Murray or use the :dance2:smiley. I need to find a way to include it all in a single post.

and I miss the fact that Moxie would have jumped in Murray's defense. It was way more fun when I knew someone would be pissed of about it .
Indeed Moxie would have jumped on you in Murrays defense :)

Newly appointed CEO and Tournament Director of the AO Andrew Abdo, a recruit from Rugby League said he was excited to watch champions like "Jacob Sinner" at the launch of the AO today
Later at the press conference he corrected himself " Of course I know its Jannik Sinner"
Abdo was toying earlier changing the best of 5 at the AO, to the best of 3 in early rounds of mens tennis singles or changing point scores systems to attract younger audiences and modernize the sport. That idea was quickly squashed, via official social media channels, later the AO confirmed that 5 set mens tennis remains locked in at the AO in 2027.
BTW Originally when Craig Tiley left to take up his new position at the USTA, AO said the role of Tournament Director will be a separate roll? unless they could not find a suitable candidate, Abdo now holds both roles at the AO.
The exho event AO 1 Point Slam will again be played at the AO in 2027, Alcaraz, Gauff, Osaka, Sinner are early committed players

People bag on Six Kings, and I do find the whole display rather tawdry (the giant holograms, etc), but the prize money does pretty much ensure that the players are in it to win. It hasn't gotten there yet, but I wonder if they're sort of trying to make it akin to the Grand Slam Cup from the 90s.

You call it "bagging," I call it accountability! These same people who've been complaining about the tennis calendar is playing yet again this mercenary event w/ little more than a payoff just to show up! Yeah, "the prize $$ does pretty much ensure that the players are in it to win it!" You throw enuf $$ at someone, you can get them to do just about anything! It is akin to The GS Cup; another useless event that needs to be snuffed out! It's human nature to be dissatified I guess! :astonished-face::angry-face::yawningface::fearful-face:

Is your main issue the lack of ATP points?
