End of the 3Q, 90-89 Philly. Where they get 90 pts from w/o Joel.

it wasn't enough in the end. Is it possible we'll see Detroit take on the West? I'm not mad at that. They pounded on the Knicks in the regular season I believe..

Reg season means nothing. Knickerbockers will feel this is their destiny season to get to the finals where they'll be obliterated.
that's true. And I'm not sure Detroit has faced this new Point KAT. But I still think Detroit have every right to be considered favourites. They'll be playing with less stress imho

20 second compilation of the flops discussed in the above videos

I'm so happy that not only social media but some of the basketball pundits are now talking about it. It's so blatant and it truly offends me that some people are starting to talk about this guy in the same breathe as the likes of Kobe. It's ridiculous! But it's even worse than that. On the one hand SGA is flopping his way to MVP's, on the other side Lu Dort and his cohorts are allowed to mug the opposition. If they were getting away with one thing that would be bad enough, but it's almost impossible to play them straight. You can't foul them, but they can foul you! WTF???

And they don't even need to do it! They're actually good enough. But it's noticeable that the better whistle in the playoffs is lowering SGA's PPG. Funny that!

They will find a way not to get it done.. I would not invest a lot of stock in the Knicks winning the finals.. they have way too many flaws that will get exposed by a good coach and team.

This is the danger of putting too much stock with what the "pundits" are saying when said pundits are hot take talk show hosts with clear agendas. This isn't about whether Shai flops or not but the idea that his PPG is down mainly because of the whistle and not because he's getting double teamed by the Lakers on quite literally every possession (as in, every single one) to force the ball out of his hands is shallow analysis but that's what to be expected from the likes of Nick Wright. And this is not a Jordan/Kobe situation where they get doubled on the block or the help comes on drives. It's a situation where he gets picked up full court and the double comes at half court to force it out of his hands. To their credit the Thunder have been great at punishing that when they get the 4 on 3. Sometimes we just need to watch the games. Modern defenses have changed a lot particularly over the last few seasons. Guys are adapting accordingly.

By the way, at the time you posted this, Shai was averaging 30.8 points in the playoffs on 55% shooting. So I don't know, it feels like Nick is spewing propaganda cause he's on the Luka > Shai train, which might be a defensible opinion if he weren't so blatantly misleading about how he presents his arguments.

Shai scored 20 on 54% shooting in this recent game against the Lakers but he only played 28 minutes due to foul trouble (the 4th foul being a god awful call by the refs). So yeah, Shai flops. No more than Luka or Brunson but he's become the posterchild for this which is fair. He made that bed. He gets to sleep in it. The analysis about him by the mainstream pundits (not actual NBA analysts who watch and understand the X's and O's though) is so ridiculously disingenuous though. Don't put too much stock into what a Klutch payroll pundit is saying about basketball.

I actually listen to First Things First as background noise at times cause they have good chemistry and are entertaining but I'm definitely not putting stock into their actual basketball analysis.

lol! Is that another dig? Why not just express your opinions without the rest of it. Trust me you would come across as far less arrogant and obnoxious. I'm certainly not going to defend Nick Wright if anyone wants to have a pop at him. He's the most disgusting LeBron apologist, so I generally avoid him. I did however notice on my stream that a host of pundits are actually talking about what OKC are getting away with and I agree wholeheartedly that it's bad for the game. It's just plain weird to me that the same calls he gets a player like Steph Curry doesn't get. It's extremely irritating. If that was all I could live with it, but it's the flopping on defence that really takes the biscuit for me. I long ago came to terms with the fact that the likes of SGA, Embiid, Brunson, Luka and a special mention to Darius Garland who gets on my last nerve.. they all sell the contact to an annoying degree. But the problem is that while the rest of them do it as well (even though I think SGA is outrageous because he really really doesn't need to do it as he can score consistently through contact which is special) but those other guys.. their teams don't assault you on defence and flop at any opportunity. So you often have players who're handicapped with foul trouble playing against them.. It's the double whammy that's so egregious for me, because OKC defend hard.

A dig at Nick Wright? You bet. The theory re: Shai's playoff output was floated by him, correct? I'm legit saying don't fall for the propaganda because the numbers and the eye test don't back it up. If you want to take that as a personal insult be my guest but it really isn't. Like I said, he was averaging over 30 on 55% efficiency and that's with being double teamed on every possession. Honestly don't know why that ruffled a feather.

My post was strictly about Shai and his output. Nothing about OKC's defense/fouling which we've gone over before.

lol! If you say so. You weren't exactly clear with it. I won't bother asking if that was by design. It's just basketball after all. It's not that deep. Frankly that was the least of what I posted :D

It is my fervent hope that the NBA fixes the issue of flopping on both offence and defence. In my view OKC have reached a level that is seriously impacting the competitiveness of the game. Anyway, they're doing god's work at the moment getting rid of the Lakers, and I don't feel in the least bit sorry for those whiny folks from SoCal. Still hoping the Spurs can present them with the match up problems I believe they can. IF they do that would be an epic series. But I do acknnowledge that OKC are perhaps a step ahead of even them in the playoffs.

On another note, I'm loving the side story of Bickerstaff really putting it to the franchise that sacked him. That one's pure entertainment. I fear that Detroit won't have the firepower to deal with whatever comes out of the West though

Spurs would absolutely give OKC a very tough series. Chet, who's been excellent all year, really struggles against Wemby (who clearly dislikes him and makes it a point to outplay him). They're athletic, great defensively, and are one of the few teams who can match OKC's intensity. OKC might be deeper and slightly better defensively, but the Spurs aren't too far behind in both categories and they have that 7'5 Alien.

SGA is gonna turn fans off from watching basketball.. there's no defense that anyone can play against him. He could NEVER had made on the playgrounds in the USA.. we would have ran him home crying to his mama!!
As our Beloved Moxie would say.. I'm gonna give this post a BUMP!! . Its all coming to fruition again against the beloved Lakers

I always thought you were more of a Lakers fan than GSW, or is it a Bron thing that you now don’t like the Lakeshow?

Originally being from Chicago, I became a KOBE fan and rooted for the Kobe Lakers.. When Kobe left and I moved to the Bay area, Dubs became #1 especially with the Steve Kerr version of the west coast offense. For my money, the KD Dubs were the best basketball I have ever witnessed. So you are correct, I was a Laker fan when Kobe Bean Bryant was the primary catalyst.

I did have a chuckle at JJ Reddick saying LeBron has the worst whistle of any player. Errr.. Shaq? Steph? Yes LeBron gets fouled a lot and it doesn't get called, but the flopping! Justice! :D

By the way.. I think Cade is going to have a really good push for MVP next year. I love watching him work. A real baller and he can defend!

Yeah that makes sense, but thought you lived in LA and were a fan of them even aside from Kobe.

I do find a lot of Laker fans complaining about LeBron to be hilarious. You see on every social media thread the fans who can’t wait until he’s gone or they say they stopped watching as soon as he joined LA. The last time Kobe made the playoffs was 2012…LeBron brought winning basketball back to the NBA’s greatest franchise after 7 years of trash and they were also missing out on every big free agent because their pitch had become “nightlife and we have tradition”.

I thought it was a mistake for him to go there in 2018 and I think it has proven to be so. But he wanted to establish more of a life outside of basketball and figured being there would help his kids develop too, so those were big factors.
