I refuse to watch Ben Shelton on clay again, unless he happens to be playing against one of my favorite players, then I will take a Xanaz just to get me through the match.Shelton was lucky to survive against qualifier Borna Gojo in Munich, having to save 3 MPs in a match that went the distance

In Munich, the Hanfmann/Hanf-beast (as @Kieran dubbed, though I cannot remember why) defeated Mensik in 3. They both serve pretty big, and it was less-than thrilling tennis, so I'm back to wondering at the charms of Mensik on the court. Off-court, of course, it's the Czech-mullet. :lulz1:)

It’s the Half-man suggestion in his name begs to be completed :lulz1:

It's just that, in my mind, he'd once proved it with a big win, but I guess not...his results are pretty pedestrian over the past couple of years. You just couldn't resist dropping the other shoe. I don't think beating Mensik yet qualifies as a huge upset, just a small one.

17-year old Diego Dedura-Palomero took the first set off Shapovalov in Munich. He's a young guy I mentioned a bit ago...don't know much about him, but someone to keep an eye on. Its his first ATP tour level match.

He won it! I don't remember the name at all, but I'll see if TC will replay it to give him a look.

Here's an example of how quirky rankings are, especially outside of the top 100. With his R32 win, plus qualifying (despite being a LL), Dedura-Palomero went up +173 ranks in the live ranking by adding 66 ATP points, to #376. If he wins the R16, he'll go up another 80ish ranks to get into the top 300.

Meaning, the differences get smaller and smaller, the lower ranked you are.

Mensikstein is made of body parts of hard court players. He struggles on clay.

(Frankenstein is the creator, not the creature, but you got my point).

I watched most of the match, as I was curious to see how he adapted to clay, agree he struggles on clay, at this point in time his game is suited to HC, I would like to see how he plays on grass, which I feel would suit his game like hard courts

Defending champion Struff dismissed with ease by Cerundolo 60 62

I just saw his celebration on a replay LOL!
I saw it too. It was a bit much for a retirement, but it was his first ATP win. I will say, the kid is very well built at 17, so that's a good sign for him.
